Where your dog stays

Indoor/Outdoor Runs, Big and Small

Every dog at Longview has an indoor/outdoor run, some up to 40 feet long, in one of our two large kennel buildings with central heating and cooling. Dogs are let outside every 2 hours, and when the Michigan weather cooperates they can go in and out as they please.

Because every dog has the same indoor/outdoor space, every dog pays the same rate, whatever their size: $40 per calendar day.

  • Two large dog kennel buildings
  • Central heating and cooling in every building
  • 24-hour monitored fire and carbon monoxide alarm
  • Kennel staff on site before, during and after office hours
  • Owners who live on the premises

The Buddy System

A Friend for the Stay

Dogs are pack animals, and most are happiest with a friend. For one-dog families we offer our Buddy System: we pair your dog with another single dog of similar size, age and personality to share an indoor/outdoor run. The company makes the stay more fun and helps with separation anxiety.

We take great care matching buddies, and many customers choose Longview for exactly this. Dogs who prefer their own space are just as welcome and just as well cared for. (A private run at your request is $60 per day.)

Want more play? Add group or private play time or a walk for $5 per activity, about 10 to 20 minutes depending on the weather.

Every new dog comes in first for a free 4-hour daycare session, Monday to Thursday, with drop-off between 10am and 12pm. FAQ

Dog Boarding Questions

More answers on our FAQ page.

How much is dog boarding at Longview?

$40 per calendar day per dog, the same for every size, since every dog has an indoor/outdoor run. Stays of 10 or more days are $38 a day, and 3 or more dogs staying 10+ days are $36 per dog per day. Military and veterinary families get $2 off the regular rate.

Does my dog need a trial visit first?

Yes. Every new dog comes in for a free 4-hour daycare session before their first stay, Monday to Thursday, with drop-off between 10am and 12pm. Call (248) 879-0420 to set it up.

Can my dog stay with my other dog?

Yes. Dogs from the same family can share a run; during the trial we make sure they get along well in a shared space.

My dog doesn’t like other dogs. Can he still board?

Yes. The Buddy System is optional. Dogs who prefer their own space are welcome and equally cared for. All boarding dogs must be social with people and other dogs, and we reserve the right to refuse aggressive pets.

Should I bring my dog’s food?

Please do. A sudden change of diet can upset the stomach and cause loose stool. We do keep food on hand for a small extra charge if you need it.

Can you give my dog medication?

Absolutely. Bring each medication in its original container with the name and dose instructions. Pets on 3 or more medications have a $5 per day extra-care charge.

How often do the dogs go outside?

Dogs are let outside every 2 hours, and when the weather is good they can go in and out of their indoor/outdoor run as they please.
